What's new with designsafe®
design safety engineering, inc. is pleased to offer the latest version of designsafe®. Along with the new version come many new and updated features to make the software extremely easy to use and work with. Some of the new and updated features of designsafe® are:
-
Product Consolidation
In today's manufacturing environment, the lines between industries and automation are blurring. Previously a user needed a robotics application, a packaging application, or a machine tool application. Now manufacturing lines can include all three. As a result, designsafe® 4 now enables users to take advantage of the complete family of designsafe® risk assessment software all within one platform. Users of Packsafe and Robot Risk Assessment will find all their past features and many, many more in designsafe® 4.
-

-
Summary Statistics Report- to manage the process
A Summary Statistics Report is now available and displays information regarding item counts, risk levels, risk level changes, status, and detailed individual item count information. This feature is a valuable risk management tool in monitoring the risk assessment process and understanding the changes made in risk levels.
-
Improved Installation
The installation process has been simplified to help you to install only the portions of the program that you really need and omitting the portions that you don’t. By clearing out the chaff you will save time because inapplicable choices will not appear during your assessments. For example, installing only the dictionaries that apply to your situation will speed your ability to identify and select the dictionary you need.
-
Action Item Status
A new Status has been added called “Action Item” that is can be used in both the Reports and Grid Filter. This allows the user to print out an “Action Item” list to keep tabs on the work in progress.
-
Over Analysis Caution
Novice users can sometimes find themselves over analyzing hazards. This cautionary dialog prompts the user before they get into the weeds and create an assessment with an excessively large number of task-hazard pairs. This feature helps users to stay on the critical path to completing the risk assessment.
-
Zoom
The Zoom functionality is now available for the Assessment Grid. This functionality is available via several methods and contains a number of commonly used pre-set zoom levels. This new feature is ideal for presentations and large group settings when the software is projected onto a screen. Viewers will have a much easier time seeing the information presented.
-
Numbering Added to Reports
Item identifiers have now been added to all assessment report templates. This feature aids discussions by allowing everyone to move through the assessment review efficiently.
-
Added new filtering operations
This new feature will save you time! One of the critical aspects of a risk assessment is being consistent in how you treat a given hazard. You would like the risk levels and risk reduction methods to be the same for similar hazards. This new filtering feature enables you to very quickly look at portions of the assessment and enables efficient copying and pasting as needed.
-
Added new ways to filter the grid
New filtering operations have been added to the Edit menu. This allows for faster filtering and changes to existing filters for the user.
-
Added graphics for various menu items
Graphics have been enhanced in the program to be even more intuitive.
- Added keyboard shortcuts (accelerators) to selected operations
Keyboard shortcuts have been assigned to the most critical operations to allow quick filtering of the grid with a single keystroke.
